First of all what is Patreon? Patreon is an online platform that allows members to pay money to be in the Patreon community of the one they are supporting, being any number of well known and popular people, from musicians, writers, artists, to doctors, lawyers, financial experts, and more. The key word is support. Allow that if you will, to sink in.
Some people give money on Patreon to get something extra. The extra may be getting to access exclusive content only shared with the Patreon Creator’s fan base as one of many examples. It could just as well be exclusive videos, podcast or other things.
NOW, with that very basic and very limited description of Patreon out of the way, I’ll move to why I support some, aside from getting something extra if I can articulate it, and hopefully briefly enough, you won’t lose interest.
I’m going to use a Patreon Creator without their knowledge to describe why I support them and that is Dr. Ken Berry who is well know for supporting a “Keto” style of eating and nutrition.
I will not go into the wide range of the many different aspects of the different kinds of Keto “styles”, but rather focus on why I support him at Patreon, even not liking some of the things inside the Patreon platform, and many he has no control over, but does a great job to overcome some of their limitations inside the paltform.
Like many, I had a need to finally get hold of decades of bad nutrition and the symptoms and bad health of diabetes.
I had seen his free videos on YouTube and they were very helpful. Let me emphasis he has a LOT of FREE videos that are very valuable, and I love how he puts his references and such in the comments section, to back up what he puts out.
NOW, this article is not about whether you like or dislike Dr. Ken Berry or despise him, it’s not about that at all. What it IS about is that I support what he is doing and how he and his wife Neisha who often helps him in videos and such, really DO try to help people, and be patient with people, and try to give them their moneys worth for supporting him, whether just sharing free videos with others or creating forums, or crowdcast video exclusively for Patreon members, or answering questions directly at his Patreon page. He and Neisha really do work their asses off!
Is it perfect? Oh not even close.
You’ll soon find out that if you go into one of his Patreon only video particpation events that even with only Patreon members there, he has a lot of people in the audience and he is as FAIR as I’ve seen anyone in trying to get to questions, that the fans use a method of voting on questions, as to which he will answer.
Dr. Berry also has a Zoom meeting for Patreon members at a certain tier of membership cost, that does make the audience even smaller and to his credit he always tries to seek out new members with each session.
Even with all Dr. Berry being more fair than anyone I’ve ever seen, if you go into the forum thinking you are going to get EXCLUSIVE attention, or your message is going to be answered immediately then you are kidding yourself as there are simply too many people to answer every question at every event, but he honestly gives it a good shot, often going over the one hour or so meeting time.
BUT, you can also learn a lot just watching, and you can bet at some point someone will ask the same question you do.
SO is that WHY I support Doctor Ken Berry and his wife? No, not at all, but I’ll admit it is nice when he does chose your question or after a few days gives you a direct response in the private message area, but no that’s not the reason, and I remind myself if a message goes unanswered for a bit he has literally thousands of people he and his wife are helping, and to remember again, why I support him, which I really am about to disclose.
The reason is…
I truly believe in what he is doing and want him to reach other people that need help as so many of us do, that are trying to find better health. As I said at the beginning, the key word is SUPPORT, and that is why I give money to his Patreon platform, because I support how he helps others.
